They are the most terrifying rides in New York.
But those riding the city’s 10 worst lifts experience no joy — only fear, loathing and even death.
Residents at the 44-story 10 Richman Plaza in The Bronx told The Post things are not much better now than in 2002, when 12-year-old Dimel Suero plunged 15 floors to his death in an elevator shaft. The boy had been playing in the hallway on the 25th floor when he accidentally slammed into the elevator doors, which then shot open.
“The elevators jump up and down, they skip floors. It’s very scary,” said Joyce Crawford, 65, a retired cashier who lives on the 23rd floor. “I’m just hoping no one else dies. Someone easily could.”

Since 1993, the building has racked up a whopping 265 violations, Buildings Department records reveal, and earned a place on the agency’s Worst Ten Elevators list. Management company River Park Associates could not be reached.
Two of the building’s four elevators don’t work.
When a Post reporter took a ride on one of the building’s functioning elevators, the outside door refused to open, stranding him until a worker managed to pry the door ajar.
Residents said they are now forced to budget an extra half- hour a day — for their elevator commute.
“If I knew how bad it was I might not have moved here,” said Latisha Davis, 24.
