Industry Notice #16-20
September 19, 2016

For Immediate Release

You Can Upload Documents Online When Filing New Vehicle Applications as of
September 26, 2016.  Application Drop-Off Service to End

Starting on September 26, 2016, you will be able to upload your required documents when you file your new vehicle application online at: https://www1.nyc.gov/lars.  You will not need to come in person to the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC).  Any documents you don't have when you file the application online can be e-mailed to the TLC once you have them available.

This replaces the current system, where you submit your application and all required documents by making an appointment or using our drop-off service.   Currently, even if you file your new vehicle application online, you still need to make an appointment to complete the application process.

Beginning November 1, 2016, you will not be able to drop off applications for licensure of new vehicles or for transfers.  Applications will only be taken online or by appointment. The drop-off service ends on October 31, 2016.

Invite you to Join us for the Opening Reception of
5th Latin American Art Biennial

Wed|October 5, 2016
5:00 - 9:00 PM

o
The 5th Latin American Art Biennial, a borough-wide exhibition of more than 100 Latin American artists living in the New York metropolitan area as well as abroad. Opening on September 19 and running until December 7, with an opening reception / Bronx Culture Trolley taking place on Wednesday, October 5, 5 PM to 9 PM, the Longwood exhibit will feature twelve acclaimed Latin American artists in a variety of media.

Artists Include: Liliana Avalos (Peru), Williams Carmona (Cuba), Scherezade García (Dominican Republic), Sandra Mack-Valencia (Colombia), Patrick McGrath Muñiz (Puerto Rico), Elsa María Meléndez (Puerto Rico), José Morales (Puerto Rico), Clara Morera (Cuba), Freddy Rodríguez (Dominican Republic), Nancy Saleme (Venezuela), Juan Sánchez (Puerto Rico), and Ezequiel Taveras (Dominican Republic).

Utilizing the theme of "I am one of those people that…," the Biennial exhibits offer an evolution of styles and techniques practiced by contemporary Latin American artists and engage personal aspects of the artists' philosophy and creation process as well as social issues including migration, women's rights, political conflicts, and discrimination. Curated by Alexis Mendoza and Luis Stephenberg, the exhibition reveals the complex and diverse approaches of Latin American artists living inside and outside the United States. According to Stephenberg, "it is through our work as Latin American artists, regardless of where we are living, that we are able to find traits of our own existence." In addition to Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos, participating galleries for the Bronx Latin American Art Biennial include: BronxArtSpace, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Clemente (Manhattan), The Andrew Freedman Home, the Gilbert Pavilion Gallery at The Hebrew Home at Riverdale, the Loisaida Center (Manhattan), and the Poe Park Visitor Center Gallery.
