Police swarm White Plains Road and E. 219th St. searching the area after a shooting last Monday.
White police tape tumbled down the sidewalk late last week near the scene at White Plains Road and E. 219th St. where cops and suspects traded gunfire last Monday afternoon — Halloween — as the intersection was swarming with people.
“I saw a lot of people running — cops, shoppers were going everywhere,” said a local shop owner who refused to give his name in fear of retaliation. “They were dropping to the ground after the shots went off, it was crazy.”
Police said a officer had been questioning a man about shots fired earlier that day, when two other men armed with guns started running. A chase ensued and one suspect fired at the cop, who then returned fire. No one was struck, and two men, ages 18 and 24, were taken into custody.
